A record number of GT3 cars are heading to the Brickyard on October 11-13 when the Desder Indianapolis 8 Hour hosts the Intercontinental GT Challenge and GT World Challenge America powered by AWS championship showdowns for the final time.
29 cars spanning nine manufacturers are currently confirmed, while several more entries could yet materialise before the Racing Capital of the World welcomes some of the sport’s top GT teams and drivers.
The spectacle will provide a fitting conclusion to IMS’s seven-year association with Intercontinental GT Challenge, which first raced there in 2020. America’s leg of the globe-trotting GT3 series is moving to Circuit of The Americas from next season.
IGTC’s global manufacturers’ and drivers’ championship titles will again be decided on the world-famous oval following endurance races at the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour, ADAC Ravenol 24h Nürburgring, CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa and Suzuka 1000km.
Mercedes-AMG faces an almost impossible task in overturning its 37-point manufacturers’ championship deficit to Porsche but is at least in pole position to clinch the drivers’ title thanks to Maro Engel, Luca Stolz and Maxime Martin occupying the top three positions. Engel’s DTM commitments prevent him from contesting Indy, so all eyes will be on his factory colleagues who start seven and eight points behind, respectively.
The majority of GT World Challenge America powered by AWS titles are also likely to go the distance, although that still depends on the outcome of its penultimate event at Barber Motorsports Park in just under two weeks.
As ever, Indy’s race will begin in daylight before carrying on into the evening under the lights, providing teams with one final opportunity to close out their campaigns on a high and write their names into the history books before sealing success by kissing the front straight’s historic bricks.

Aston Martin
Rebel Rock Racing will represent Aston Martin in the GT World Challenge America field with the Vantage AMR GT3 EVO. The No. 71 entry will compete in the Pro-Am class, adding another manufacturer to the diverse season-finale field.

BMW
BMW will be represented by three teams at Indianapolis, with entries spanning the Pro and Pro-Am classes. Riley Motorsports, Random Vandals Racing, and Turner Motorsport will each bring BMW M4 GT3 EVO machinery to the season finale, with the latter contending for a class title, giving the manufacturer a strong presence as the championship reaches its conclusion.

Chevrolet
Chouest Povoledo Racing and DragonSpeed will fly the flag for Chevrolet at the Indianapolis 8 Hour with the Corvette Z06 GT3.R. While the former has previously contested the event in the past, the latter is a new entry on the grid for the season finale, further adding to the record grid.

Ferrari
Ferrari will have a three-car presence at Indianapolis, with AF Corse USA and Scuderia Corsa entries represented across the Pro and Am classes. Both AF Corse USA entries are vying for a championship title in their respective classes, while Scuderia Corsa, a late-season entry, made an immediate impact by scoring a win on debut at Road America.

Ford
Dollahite Racing will bring the Ford Mustang GT3 EVO to the final Indianapolis 8 Hour held at IMS. The team has earned some strong podium finishes and have continued to rise above the setbacks, but their elusive first win has evaded them thus far. They would love nothing more than to cement their success with a victory at the Brickyard and put Ford on the top step on one of motorsport’s biggest stages.

Lamborghini
Partial-season entry Chicago Performance and Tuning Co. will return to the Indianapolis 8 Hour with its Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2. The No. 64 entry previously took to the grid at Sonoma and Road America, and have made their intentions clear that they are seeking a strong result in the eight-hour finale.

McLaren
Archangel Motorsports will represent McLaren at the season finale with its 720S GT3 EVO. The team enjoyed a podium finish earlier this year at Road Atlanta, but have also faced their fair share of hardships as well. There’s no better place for them to finish the season on a high than at the Speedway.

Mercedes-AMG
Mercedes-AMG will feature one of the largest manufacturer contingents at Indianapolis, with six entries with the likes of regulars TR3 Racing, MAD Joker Racing, and JMF Motorsports, while also welcoming IGTC entrants Mercedes-AMG Team Lone Star Racing and GetSpeed Team PCX Racing. The Mercedes-AMG contingent spans all three classes, with entries in Pro, Pro-Am and Am competition. With multiple teams bringing the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO to the Brickyard, the manufacturer will have a significant presence throughout the eight-hour finale.

Porsche
Porsche brings the largest number of entries to the Indianapolis 8 Hour, with 10 cars spread across the Pro and Pro-Am classes. McCann Racing, Kellymoss, Wright Motorsports, and GMG Racing, some of whom field multiple entries, are all well-known on the American front. They will be joined by international teams Tsunami RT, High Class Racing and Herberth Motorsport at the season finale. The depth of the Porsche field will make the marque one of the most prominent manufacturers on the grid, which may prove to be vital in the Global Manufacturer Championship fight.
