Honda confirms full-season Intercontinental campaign with Team JAS

> NSX GT3 Evo set for Bathurst debut in February

Honda will contest all five rounds of the Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli in 2020, which begins with the NSX GT3 Evo making its Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour debut on January 31 – February 2.

The Japanese manufacturer’s latest-specification GT3 model wasn’t homologated in time to compete Down Under earlier this year. Instead, the car made a sensational debut at Laguna Seca where Mario Farnbacher claimed pole position for the California 8 Hours.

Honda Racing Team JAS will once again run the single full-season Pro entry on Honda’s behalf, with the option of further NSX GT3 Evos joining on a race-by-race basis just as they did at Spa and Suzuka earlier this year.

Honda will announce its full-season driver line-up before Bathurst.

Hiroshi Shimizu, General Manager Motorsport Division, Honda Motor Co, Ltd. said: “I am delighted for Honda to participate in the 2020 Intercontinental GT Challenge. The NSX GT3 was a championship-winning car in the GT300 category in Super GT in Japan, the IMSA GTD classes in the USA and several other major series due to the effectiveness of the Evo kit introduced in 2019. The results of this development will be demonstrated in each country’s series in 2020 as well as in the Intercontinental GT Challenge, where the world’s top GT drivers and teams gather.”
