K-PAX Racing will contest the Intercontinental GT Challenge season finale at Laguna Seca on October 26-28 with a first-generation Bentley Continental GT3.
Its Pirelli World Challenge SprintX and GTA drivers Alvaro Parente and Rodrigo Baptista are joined by Bryan Sellers for the California 8 Hours, a race in which K-PAX, Parente and Sellers finished third last season, albeit with McLaren.
In all, this year’s California 8 Hours will be K-PAX’s third Intercontinental GT Challenge outing after the team Sonoma-based team also entered the 2012 Sepang 12 Hours.
The squad’s previous-generation Continental GT3 will be joined on the grid by Bentley Team M-Sport’s two new-for-2018 chassis, which will then transfer to K-PAX ahead of the 2019 season.
“Laguna Seca is such a storied track with a lot of history, and we have had a lot of success there in the past,” said programme manager, Darren Law. “This track is local to our team, and we have good data here. Having previously competed in both Intercontinental events at the Sepang 12 Hours and also last season in this eight-hour event, we understand the challenges and look forward to competing with other teams from around the world.”
The line-up ensures Parente will conclude this year’s Intercontinental GT Challenge campaign with a different manufacturer and team to the Mercedes-AMG Strakka Racing combination he’s competed with in each of the previous three rounds. The Portuguese driver currently lies fifth in the standings after finishing second at the Suzuka 10 Hours last weekend.
