Several new entries have been confirmed for round three of this season’s Intercontinental GT Challenge - the Mazda Raceway California 8 Hours - which takes place at Laguna Seca on October 14/15.
Pirelli World Challenge Sprint X squad TRG-AMR is sending a pair of Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4s to its local circuit for the multi-class enduro, which also features GT3, GT Cup and Invitational cars. Greg Milzcik, Brandon Davis and Derek DeBoer will drive one of the Astons while the second crew consists of Craig Lyons, Kris Wilson and Thomas Merrill.
Australian squad MARC Cars is also making its second Intercontinental GT Challenge appearance of 2017, in the Invitational class, after contesting the season-opening Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour in Februray. Jake Camilleri and Nicholas Rowe are joined in the team’s first Mazda 3 V8 by an as-yet-unnamed third co-driver, while Keith Kassulke and Morgan Haber pair up in the squad’s second entry alongside another to-be-confirmed driver.
October’s Mazda Raceway California 8 Hours event marks the Intercontinental GT Challenge’s first race in America. The globe-trotting series has already visited Australia and only last week staged its European leg as part of the Total 24 Hours of Spa. Asia closes the four-round campaign courtesy of the the Motul Sepang 12 Hours on December 9-10.
